...of piano. No big beats behind it, just straight piano. I thought this was good...it was definitely too quiet though...and as another reviewer already pointed out, the trills (Grace notes, I can't remember the exact name?) did sound kind of awkward, just because of the song. A few of them worked, but some of them sounded forced. It definitely was a nice piece though, nice work.

I liked the conchairto (oh I spelt that brutal) style of piano, with two pianos going at once to maximize the sound. Yeah, it was simple, but it worked nicely, especially with the small strings inclusion in the middle.
Sounded pleasant, nicely done.

Kinda had a 16 bit, SNES type feel to it at the start. The only thing I didn't really like, was the constant, unchanging beat behind the tune. The da da da da da da at the very beginning. I'd like to see it sound SORTA like the key it's in, don't know how well it'd work, but it'd be something to experiment with.
The main part, chorus I guess, sounded great with the electric guitar sound blaring out the most memorable part of the song, so with that, I had no complaints about.
And of course, loving the fade out. Nice work...just maybe work out the annoying da da da da thing, as in certain parts of the song, it doesn't really fit. Nice work.

You should really listen to your audio before you submit it. Too much volume on your strings...then the heavier strings come in and overpower it. Totally overcluttered...
This was horrendous, try to get your volumes proper and if something is TOO loud, fix it, don't add something on top of it even louder. And I don't know what the last part (bridge I guess) was suppose to be either...:(
Sorry dude.

Kind of a boring song to remix, don't you think? Anyway, well, at the start, it just seemed to be a bit cluttered, there wasn't enough of a pause between the, I suppose, xylophone type sound? I'm not sure, but I wasn't a fan of this particular song...and well, for the Ice Craven, I suppose it fits...don't really know what the point is of making one of these for the audio portal though, since I doubt anyone is gonna listen to this particular song on their playlist, whether it is yours OR Nobuo Uematsu's. Regardless, good effort, just..yeah, wasn't my thing.

The biggest problem with remixing songs, especially those done by someone as skilled as Nobuo Uematsu, is sometimes you just don't measure up to him. I thought this would be a fine song on its own, but it's a remix, and well, remixes generally get compared to the original....because of this, I have to say that the original is just so much more empowering. This version just doesn't give off the feeling of a hero going off to save the town from evil, it reminds me more of somewhat of a marching band tune. This is mostly just because of the standard that you have to reach when remixing Final Fantasy music. I'm sure you put a lot of effort into it, I just personally found the other one much more superior and appropriate. Never the less, good job.

...is the intense beat behind the music, that makes the original so powerful. I loved this rendition, but it's just lacking that UMPH that the old one had. Having said that, this song is one of those songs...along with maybe "Terra" on the same disc, that stirs up the emotion that Final Fantasy IX delivers. Such an underrated game, I swear. Anyway, don't get me wrong, it's a great piece, I just felt like I was missing that one final touch that makes the whole build-up so good. The use of trumpets wasn't bad, just yeah, different. Anyhoo, good job mate, hope to see much more from you, in regards to FF tunes.
Author's Response:
Yeah, I know what you mean about the beat, but I deliberately left it out to make a calmer version of an awesome song. Thanks for your review, they are all appreciated.
Terra you say? Hmm, ideas are a'formulatin'.

...about Final Fantasy 7 is this song. I still remember the feeling of Aerith dying, after spending so much time leveling her. It was traumatic really. But it also marked the first time that a truly developed character, had an unexpected death, that, if you hadn't had it already spoiled, really touched you in a way. You did a great job with the song, making it more touching than it already is...and using Uematsu's already amazing ability, tweaked the song to make it fit the story even more. Good stuff. :)
Author's Response:
I remember my hopes being crushed at this moment as well. A lot of emotion is tied to this song for me as well. Thanks for the awsome review, I look forward to more.

I love this song, simply because this is my favourite Final Fantasy, and it sounds quite good with the heavy synth. Also, loops really well. Good job, I'd love to see you remake more FFIX tunes. :)

It almost sounds like a mix of the Bond theme and the Temple Theme, which I absolutely love, considering both games have such solid soundtracks. I love the quality of the audio and the volume, it's great, excellent job. :)
