...who the best poster of 2007 is...?

December is almost upon us, and that means the year end NG BBS awards are on my mind....

I've done them three years, with Zerok and Evark doing them a year I decided to go MIA (which resulted in the worst BBS awards EVER LOL) [but seriously, I just have a special touch], and each year we've had some adjustments to the categories.

I haven't quite decided how many categories we're going to have, but I was thinking that I'd let you guys have an open forum on my page to suggest any categories you'd like to see....and as a bonus, the most brilliant one will actually be included in the nominations thread as a potential award.

...also, your name will be dropped as an added bonus for coming up with it, so you could get a shoutout in one of the biggest threads of the year (at least the biggest of the month) so omg, your Newgrounds wet dreams could all be satisfied.

Anyway, feel free to list some categories you'd like to see...but try to stay away from the obvious ones....and I'm also trying to avoid as many negative awards as possible, because most stuff seems to be based on the last three months of BBS activity, instead of the whole year....keep that in mind, especially when I open up nominations/voting.

Today I'm 22.

Suddenly, it's very uneventful. I can vote, do porn, drive, drink (although not at the same time), get into a bar in the states, and am legal everywhere. So 22 really means nothing.

The next milestone, 25. :-/

Time flies when you're having fun...or something.

As most of you probably noticed, or probably didn't notice, I took an extended break from this website, coming back to start up Fantasy Hockey (WOOOO btw, HOCKEY IS BACK). It's funny because I feel like as I get older and older, I find less and less entertainment in this website.

I mean, yeah, it's a good way to pass the time, but when I'm in college I'm almost embarrassed to browse the website, simply because it has such a juvenile vibe, especially when it comes to the forums. I have a lot of respect for the creators of this website, and the Portal is spot on amazing, as a concept and as an implemented idea, but let's face it, the forums are targetted to a specific age group, and once you grow out of that age group (which I have) it's very difficult to lower yourself to the level that is required to be a "successful" poster on the forums.

It's funny because I originally thought that it had just regressed over the years, but in fact, if I look back at my posts, I realize that I was at one point (mostly when I was 15-16) one of those kids that I now find the bane of this website.

This website helped me get through some tough times as a teenager, giving me a place to vent out frustrations, and just fool around, a place to relax and be accepted for whatever I was, as it does for kids now. So for that, I'm very appreciative of the forums. In some ways, I feel like the forums have regressed, not because the maturity level has gotten any worse, it's just because the sheer number of people has grown so much. When I was actively posting, the website usually had 100 people online, tops. On a rare day like when Tom released a new game, we'd see 200-300, but that was like, once a year. Now it's a very common occurence, as NG continues to grow, expand and gain more mainstream exposure.

It just becomes more and more of a challenge to wade (lolpun) through the crap to get those rare diamonds in the rough sort of threads that make me remember why I even bother to log in. Dunno if it's stubborness, not wanting to give up something that was part of my life for so long, or if it's just a hope that things will go back to the days when I enjoyed browsing the forums, actively posting, etc etc.

I guess this is sounding a little emo, but I mean, blogs usually are. But I felt like I needed a new one, and this subject is on my mind often whenever I log in here. Also, being pointed out as an inactive mod didn't help things, it was an eye opener. Don't really know where I'm going with it, so I'm just gonna keep rolling and see when I end up disappearing for good. I'll be sure to let you know. ;)

busy irl. bbl.

Well, my 360 has finally bit the dust. A while back I made a thread about how it kept overheating, and well...it has finally gotten to the point where it crashes every 20 minutes, so fuck it.

Unfortunately, I don't believe the Microsoft warranty covers my particular issue, instead it just covers the dreaded 3 lights of doom, and not my equally dreaded two lights of doom. So, to keep myself busy, I have started playing Final Fantasy VI.

Needless to say, this game is thoroughly addictive. Previous times I've played through the game, I have kinda threw the character Gau to the side, and not really utilized him. This time, I decided to do things right, and wow, he is a fucking powerhouse. It is amazing how much damage his Rages do. It's almost unfair...

Anyway, currently I just received Espers and I'm in the Veldt, gaining more Rages. After that, I'm off to the Opera House, to progress through the game somemore.

The main reason I decided to play FFVI again was, well, actually, because of some stuff I saw on NG. First of all, Realmguys' Terra Theme on the audio Portal, which brought back fond memories....and secondly, poxpower's amazing drawing of Celes in the NG High-Def Sprite Art contest. You guys should check out both of those links, especially if you are fans of the FF series.

Still interesting to see how people continue to whine about the Re-Design. I honestly feel like no matter how perfect the re-design could've been or actually is, there'd be one moron with a level one account who would make a thread whining about the issues. I dunno, I just feel like people don't seem to understand that everyone is having to deal with the bugs/lags/etc and it really does no good to make a thread about it, no matter how good your intentions are.

Finally, I added a user picture and an icon. The icon is in honour of the new RPG I've been playing in lieu of my broken 360. The user picture is just a rapper I've been listening to a lot. Plus, I got sick of the whole, "NO PICTURE" heading underneath Tankman. If it was just him , I'd be cool leaving it.

Now if I could only get a banner....

This is my first, of hopefully many News posts on my userpage. As you can see, it's pretty drab with no pictures and nothing really exciting going on, but that is due to the fact that I just got home from vacation.

I haven't really had a chance to talk about the redesign in detail, so I figure a good starting point would be to go through the things I like and the things I wish were added.

First of all, the things I like :

1. The New Level System : I had originally stopped depositing for my NG account because frankly, I found it pointless to log on daily to deposit and basically tread water to maintain a spiked dildo. With the new schemata, it is awesome to see that for one, the scaling system is kaputs, which means constant progress towards your next level, instead of losing your progress if you decide not to log in, and secondly, I absolutely LOVE the new look levels. Although, some of the levels are better than others, thankfully, as I mentioned before, you progress THROUGH the levels quite quickly, so it's great. So big props for that, and big ups on the graphics that the new design entails.

2. New Look Portal : I love the new Voting Bar/Review System. I think it is way more effective to have the voting shit pop up instead of take you to a new page, so I'm a big fan of that. The embedded flash is kinda eh, I like having pop ups so I can check other things while I watch the movie, but I will admit the look is way better. The opening page definitely looks more slick though, so again, good shit.

3. Auras : Even though I'm stuck with my GOLD, I still like the new look of the auras. The addition of black and purple gives a bit more variety, which is always nice, and hopefully it opens up the path to more potential auras, I'll talk more about that later.

OK, now things I'd like to see in the future for the website.

1. MORE SECRETS! The secret system has been kinda pushed aside as being moot point, with only four secrets or whatever, basically none of them having any real point (Who really uses the opportunity to post on the front page anyway?), I feel as if not having more secrets is really missing a big opportunity.

What if once you got a certain amount of exp, you gained yourself a new aura? Like, something totally out there like Orange, or Brown, or whatever. Or you could have access to custom Newgrounds avatars...like, if you hit 20,000 exp, you could use a picture of Pico as your avatar, or any of the other NG characters....it just seems like if the secrets aren't going to be updated, why not just trash them, or give them a special overhaul? I dunno, it's just a thought.

2. My webcam was removed! NOOOOOOOO.

Actually, I don't really care about that, I never uploaded any pics ever since my program originally crashed.

Anyway, let me know what you think about the whole idea with the secrets. I love these news posts, especially since you get an awesome 30K+ characters to work with.

I'm hoping that I get some visitors to my page, even if it's just to bitch about how much they hate me. ;)
